About the event

Are you curious about federal farm programs? Many farmers don’t know they qualify for United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) services that can positively impact their farm businesses. For example, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) offers low-interest loans to farmers which can be used for start-up costs, expansion, equipment purchases, building a packshed or storage facility, and more. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has programs that help with conservation plans, cover crop plans, grazing plans, and much more, as well as cost-share assistance for infrastructure like high tunnels and livestock watering systems.

This casual open house at the USDA farm service center in Barron will provide an introduction to these programs, with plenty of time for individual questions and assistance.

The co-hosts for this event are Bonnie Warndahl, of Winnowburrow Farm and Florals, and Matt Hardy, of Rust Hill Ranch, trained Connectors who can help fellow farmers navigate USDA…
